Early in my photography career, a family member passed away unexpectedly. I was unable to attend their funeral due to a wedding I was scheduled to photograph. The day before the wedding, and the day of the funeral, I was scrolling throughtheir Facebook page looking at all of the photos people were sharing along with their favorite memories. It was then that I saw the importance of these photographs.
I now saw wedding photographs in a way that I had not understood before. Photos are the closest thing we have in real life of a persons memory and feeling of those no longer with us.
Right there I promised myself that when I photograph every wedding with this mindset. To get the best possible photos for the couple, their family and friends. I had a renewed purpose and connection to the importance a photograph holds. Long after our dear ones are gone.
About six months later, I found out that the father of the groom from that same wedding had passed away unexpectedly. The photos I had taken of his dad started to show up on facebook. It was my wedding photos that became super valuable to the couple and their most valuable way to look back on their dad’s life. Reaffirming the mean of what I do. It is with this mindset that I approach each wedding and everything I do.
This reaffirms the meaning of every picture that I take. As a Seattle wedding photographer I honor this promise to myself at every wedding
People are the biggest reason WHY I photograph weddings.
I love manythings about photographing weddings. But without the added flavor that is so unique to each couple, I don’t know if I would be a wedding photographer. I truly cherish getting to know the couples that I work with – their story and relationships make my role interesting, dynamic, and fulfilling.
I have been a Seattle wedding photographer for many years and have meet many people over those years. Everyone is different bringing a different perspective into every story.
You may think you know a standard wedding, but the STORY is always different.
The story of a wedding day is never the same. There is always a different set of past stories and the next chapter of that story is what plays out on your wedding day.
Focusing on the many unique people throughout your wedding day always excites me to tell the story of you in a fun, dynamic and creative way. The stories are what you will think back on. The things that made you laugh or the things that made you cry will be the stories you relive after your wedding.
Small moments string together, comprising the overall wedding day. I capture timeless moments showing beyond how the day looked, but more of how it felt. Moments are fragile and fleeting. I bring a calm presence and eliminate distraction, allowing the moments to flourish.
Candid moments of the day help narrate the true story of your wedding.
