This past year I got to shoot weddings in some unbelievable locations. The year started out traveling across the country shooting three destination weddings over two weeks. Starting in the vineyards of Sonoma California, before trading in my dress shoes for a pair of skies boots to shoot a wedding on top of a mountain at the Big Sky Resort in Montana. After thawing out, I ending a crazy two weeks in sandals shooting a wedding on the beach down in Ft. Meyers Florida. It was a whirlwind of climates and location but it was just the start. Over the next 9 months, I traveled around the state every weekend shooting everywhere from the San Juan Island for to back to back wedding, to Leavenworth and Wenatchee for a weekend. Down south to my hometown for a few in Portland. Ollala, just 10 minutes from home, and all around Seattle to many new places I had never been before.
While shooting in all of these amazing new places was an incredible experience, there was no location that matched the reward of the unique moments and stories I got to photograph. The story triumphed over everything. The moments at each wedding were special and one of kind. They made you forget where you were and focus on the people around you instead.
At the end of 2016 when I started looking through all the photos I took it was the moments that stood out the most to me. The type of photos that reminded you how you felt not just where you were or what it looked like. I started with over 2,000 images and had the nearly impossible task of narrowing it down to only the best of the best. There are more I wish I could have added but for me, these photos perfectly represent the kind of photos I hope to continue to take in 2017. Take you time and enjoy these best moments from 2016.
