Elisabeth and Shane’s Dragonfly Retreat wedding was a wonderful celebration of two people who found the right person (and a few cats) that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with. This wedding featured the most Harry Potter references and inspiration than I’ve have even seen. It was magical.
When I first got to hang out with Elisabeth and Shane together it was during a blizzard in North Bend at Rattlesnake Lake. A massive winter storm rolled into town and it was one of the last weekends that both Elisabeth and Shane would have together in the Seattle area before their wedding. We spent it getting to know each other and compared the snow filled trees with different scenes from Harry Potter.
The next time we would meet was on their wedding day under pretty much the opposite conditions – warm, sunny and in August. After a few sprinkles in the morning, the sun was present for a perfect summer day.
In the morning family and friends helped Elisabeth realize her vision for the decor, flowers, and tables settings. Everything was so well thought out and there were many people wanting to help with the finishing touches.
The heartfelt wedding ceremony was led by Elisabeth’s sister. She expressed the couple’s love for each other, described how their relationship brought them to that present moment and projected their promises towards their shared future. She held the Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows book open to the Chapter Eight, “The Wedding”. The inside had a cut out for her phone which held notes for Elisabeth and Shane’s wedding ceremony.
My favorite part of their Dragonfly Retreat wedding was seeing Elisabeth and Shane sneak moments with each other as if no one was watching. It was something as simple as tasting a few appetizers right after the ceremony, laughing with each other during their creative portrait time, and dancing on the crowded floor as if it were just the two of them alone. This is evident in their wedding photos, you can see their love, connection, and appreciation for the present moment.
The night ended with family and friends sending them off through a tunnel of sparklers. Their whole day was aglow with the bliss of their new vows, it should be no surprise that it ended on a spark as well. Cheers to Elizabeth and Shane, to their new beginning and for “Always”.
