Lauren & Riley – Rainy Pioneer Square Engagement

Lauren & Riley

Rainy Pioneer Square Engagement

January 1, 2018

Lauren and Riley’s engagement session was what every couple hope their engagement session is not like. Rainy! But that is because they wanted to have rain during their engagement session. Something I thought was a lot of fun for their rainy pioneer square engagement session.

You might wonder why they wanted rainy on their for their engagement photos. They loved in the Pioneer Square area, loved the PNW weather, rain and all, and they are planning their wedding decor around the theme of a rainy Seattle day. It was fun and kind of different planning our photo shoot our the sunny days. A first for me and I loved it. I love when couples have unique ideas for their engagement sessions.

We started the shoot at their place before wandering the streets of Pioneer Square. The first place we stopped at was the Waterfall Garden Park. Someplace I had never been before. I was surprised to find a large waterfall right in the middle of the city. It was so convenient to be able to get photos in the city and in front of a waterfall without driving 2 hours to see both. It was still early

It was still early into the engagement session and the rain had not started yet. It was definitely going to rain just a matter of when. The leaves around Pioneer Square were bright orange as most of the leaves had turned for Fall. And then out of nowhere, it started to pour. Lauren and Riley did not run for cover but look up at the falling rain and smile. I loved it! We had pioneer square all to ourselves as everyone had gone inside to get away from the rain.

After spending the second half standing in the rain we ended the session around a fire pit in front of Quality Athletics Sports Bar. Mainly for a few pictures inside of trying to dry out soaked clothes. I made my favorite and final photos of Lauren and Riley here. Silhouetting their faces in between the roaring flames.

If you liked Lauren and Riley’s rainy pioneer square engagement session you’ll love their wedding photos here.
