In 2023 I photographed more concerts than I have in the past 11 years photographing concerts. Here are 100 of my best concert photos of 2023 including photos of Taylor Swift Era’s Tour, Tove Lo, Shania Twain, Tate McRae, and more photographed across concert venues in Seattle. Captured over the course of 36 concerts, pulled from 80 artists photographed, narrowed down from over 50,000 and picked from my 3,258 delivered concert photos.
2023 felt like a return to normalcy in the concert world after the challenges of the pandemic. The sheer number of artists on tour was greater than before the pandemic. Like a Renaissance of touring artists after the Dark Ages. So much so that I could not keep up with all the artist preforming live in 2023. There were many shows I missed just because of the timing.
Some of my favorite concert in 2023 were Flogging Molly, were I got to photograph the entire show at their show in Seattle, Tessa Violet, who I was lucky enough to photograph twice, and of course my favorite concert photos of all had to be photographing Taylor Swifts Era’s Tour at Seattle’s Lumen Field. It was my third time photographing Taylor Swift after having photographed her Reputation Tour in 2019 and her 1989 tour in 2016.
Throughout the year, I worked with various organizations and venues in Seattle, including Seattle Music News, The Showbox, Seattle Theatre Group, AEG Present and more. It was a year of growth and challenge as I pushed myself to capture unique and compelling photos of the best artists in the music industry today.
Some of my best seattle concert photos came from my favorite venue for concerts, the Paramount Theatre. It’s a nearly 100 year old venue in Seattle and I got to photograph more show there then most year. When an artists I’m excited to photograph comes to Seattle I always hope they are playing at the Paramount Theatre.
There were many artists I got to photograph again like Tate McRae who is really blowing up at the moment, Thrice who I’ve seen over 5 times at this point, and Tove Lo who played her best show ever in Seattle at the Paramount in February 2023. All three of these artists have produced some of my favorite concert photos from the year.
I got to photograph many artists for the first time this year. Some of my favorite new artists photographed this year include Cannons, Betty Who, Gracie Abram, and Shania Twain who I became obsessed with after seeing her concert.
I think these are my best concert photos of 2023. I loved getting to reflect on all the photos I took from 2023 and feel very proud of this body of work. I’m super excited to see which new artists I get to photograph in 2024. My calendar is already filling up with upcoming shows.
