In 2016 there was the Great Seattle Storm that never really happened. Except during a short 25 minute period when Seattle was covered by thick dark clouds, silenced by thunder and lightning, winds, and a heavy downpour. All during Courtney and Scott’s The Landing at Tyee on Lake Union Wedding photos on South Lake Union. Some of my favorite wedding moments have come from when something goes wrong but can be easily solved. This is exactly what happened when the storm approached.
Just as we were finishing their couples portraits the sun was covered by dark clouds, and the winds started to howl. Tables and chair outside on the deck started tipping over and the lights flickered. Then the entire venue went dark and the music stopped suddenly. Fighting against the storm guests sprung from their seats with enthusiasm to get the backup generator started and the party back on track. Being well prepared it took only a few minutes to get everything set up. When the guests successfully got the DJ’s music back up and a few lights on everyone cheered and embraced each other. The party went on with extra excitement as people celebrated fighting back against the storm, getting the power back on keeping the wedding celebration going all night long. My favorite party of every wedding is the dance party during the reception. Courtney, Scott, and their lovely guests had one of the best dance parties of the year.
